glands

that last post was brought to you by benny. somehow she even managed to publish it!

Ok so I have woken and thought “oh I have forgotten it all” but suddenly one thought popped in my head and a cascade of memory floods into my brain!

Was visiting my mum in hospital on a few occasions, she was in the extended stay section of the Emergency Dept (where you go if they want to observe you for a night or so or do some tests and don’t want to move you to a ward – I think they are for <48hr but my mum has been in one for 5 days or something once). So I go and visit her, she’s in the patient lounge with dad and we go back to her room, only to find she’s been kicked out in favour of a middle-aged man on a venilator surrounded by his family.
My mum is livid, she also looks gaunt, but I steer her out of the room to avoid upsetting the poor family. She tells me to go find the oncologist to find out what is going on (so then I realise she has cancer).

I can’t find him, but find one of the ED doctors that I had seen on a previous visit, but he’s busy in the middle of dealing with a trauma case that’s arrived.

The next bit I was at my parents’ house, and for some reason I was going to go see Steve after he finished work. I was worried about his health, and when I did see him his face was swollen. His salivary glands AND lymph nodes were large and hard (in my head the salivary glands were something to do with immune response, also I knew there were 3 sets but the parotids were under his eye and I recall thinking “umm I don’t think that is where they go”).
I urged Steve to go to the doctor but he insisted he was fine.

Then there was something about my cats escaping and me having to find them. Still at my parents’ place, Cale came by but I couldn’t stomach his cheeriness and endless optimism so when he started to talk to me I just ignored him and walked away.
