scholarship!

whoa, woo, ha!

this morning i received an email saying that i am a 2009 recipient of the John Flynn Placement Programme scholarship! exciting!

Shara & Webber helped me with my application, and then there was a fairly informal interview at uni. I left the interview not feeling terribly confident, and thought they would be more likely to give it to one of the 2nd years or younger kids that don’t have rural experience.

so basically, for 2 weeks a year for 4 years i get to rock out at a hospital/clinic in a rural area. you go back to the same place each time to get to know the community. they pay for my flights & i get put up in hospital accommodation, plus $500/week stipend while i’m away. it’s a totally awesome opportunity, i get to put in my preferences where i want to go, i just want somewhere warm!

in other news José is sick, he has a temperature of 40C/104F! the vet gave him some shotz + some pills, and he should perk up soon. poor sad Joséman
